The Witcher (2019 - )

Long have we waited... To be a little bit disappointed because expectations were so high. I won't toss any coin to this Witcher but I'll for sure continue watching it.  Series Review: The Witcher (2019 - ) The world-building of a masterpiece... but not explained enough First of all, I never read the books or played the games. So I'm not familiar with The Witcher universe and all I know about it comes from talking to friends who played The Witcher 3, and having played some Gwent myself. I binge watched the whole first season in one day and these are my thoughts on it. The impression I have is that the series was made for those who were already fans of the franchise, disregarding everyone else. There was no acceptable presentation to the world, no explanation for politics or geography, the races and magic habilities. As an example, we see the Witcher Gerald (Henry Cavill) constantly taking potions which the effects are never even mentioned. The pacing is also...

Code 8 (2019)

Code 8 was a very interesting experience and even though you won't see anything extraordinary - no Michael Bay-type effects and no mind blowing narrative - it's still an outstanding low-budget movie. Movie Review: Code 8 (2019) Amell bros deliver! First of all, they are not brothers, they're cousins. But I always thought they were brothers and they are both cool guys, so yeah... They're best bros, they're the Amell Bros to me. This all started from a short-film produced by the Amell Bros themselves in 2016. You can watch it on youtube here:  Code 8 (2016) That short-film served as an introduction to the universe and a teaser for the movie. While releasing the short, the Amell Bros simultaneously started an Indiegogo (croudfunding) campaign in order to fund the full-length feature. So now, 3 years later, we get the result. And it's GOOD! Not another Arrowverse crossover! So what's it all about Code 8 takes place in a world where 4% ...

Ready or Not (2019)

Ready or Not movie review The movie review for this one is simple, it's a fun and unpredictable ride with maybe just a little bit too much fake blood spent.  Movie Review: Ready or Not (2019) Family traditions are important Ready or Not was supposed to be another one of this new wave of horror movies with a lighter mood and a touch of comedy. However, it is more a comedy than anything else.  The "horror", if it can be called that, it's only present in the constant gore scenes troughout the movie. So if you don't have problems with a little blood ( cof cof   "a little"  cof cof ) you should be fine and actually have a good laugh with all the silliness.  I really liked the whole atmosphere created before all the madness. It got me interested right away. The soundtrack was also very unique and overall all the characters and cast delivered acceptable performances. Little Monsters (2019)

Zombie Kids Camp was fun The first few minutes of the movie were really WTF. So just my kind of thing. It got my attention instantly.  I liked a lot the way they introduced the characters and the two main adults got a very good development. Also the kids were really funny, even the annoying ones.  Lupita Nyong'o showed once again just how scary and versatile she can be.  Overall was a pretty enjoyable movie, had some good gags throughout and was another original way to explore the zombie genre. Now the bad stuff I don't have a lot to criticize about this movie. It wasn't the best thing I've ever seen, but it was OK in every aspect. Just average.  The only thing I can highlight is that it seemed like there wasn't much going on.  The first 30 minutes of the movie was spent building the characters and settings, and after that they were stuck in the store most of the time. There wasn't much action.  I get that this is not suppo...

IT Chapter Two (2019)

From amazing to forgettable I liked the first IT a lot! It was one of the few horror movies that I really enjoyed. I thought it was so cool, after so many movies of people running around helplessly from monsters, to see a bunch of kids beating the crap out of some demon clown.   So I'll start by saying what I enjoyed about this sequel. I think the cast was very well chosen because most of the main characters really looked like their young versions. Especially James McAvoy who had a convincing performance in the stuttering scenes. Overall, the group scenes where The Losers Club, despite being a totally different cast, still could replicate the chemistry within the friends were enjoyable and heartwarming. Especially the reunion's dinner, I liked that part.  That said, there were so many things wrong with this movie ... IT (2019) Rating: 3/10 ⭐ To be honest, a lot of scenes were just cringe.  The Bar Mitzvah speech, ...

Megalo Box (2018)

It wouldn’t make any sense to post my first anime review about some random anime with low rating. But also I didn’t wanted to just talk about some Shounen cliche anime that everyone already knows about. So for my first anime review I choose Megalo Box. Probably my favorite anime of 2018. It’s a super mega hype-gasm ride with one of the best original soundtracks I’ve ever heard in anime. Megalo Box Rating: 9/10 ⭐
